SAT/ACT tutoring
I begin by looking closely at where the student is starting from, determining where there is progress to be made, and prioritizing select strategies.
I’m not delusional: test prep tutoring is not something students look forward to. I seek to demystify the process, breaking things down into a workable plan, and building challenges and games into the practice. The process becomes manageable and focused rather than cumbersome and bewildering. Crucially, it can build confidence in the student. Believe it or not, I’ve had some very joyful episodes helping students with test prep.

The 3 Phases of Work
Months 1-2
In the beginning, our main focus is content: refreshing math and grammar lessons from recent years. Bring your flashcards! It sounds boring but there are always lightbulb moments in here.
Months 3-4
By Month 3, it’s all about training: perfecting test-taking strategies and understanding the traps. The reading and science sections are about much more than knowing the content.
Months 5-beyond
Our work concludes with timing & trials, mimicking the actual conditions the student will face on test day. We bring everything together while fostering a calm, steady mindset.
My students are top scorers.
Not a factory.
Seven years of experience.
Each year, I have students score in the top 99th (or 100th) percentile of test-takers nationwide. I have led students to perfect scores of 36 on the ACT, and helped bring others up significantly to meet their potential.
This training is tailored to the student. I offer an alternative to overpriced, unconcerned test prep companies.
I have worked on test prep with students at every private high school and many public high schools in Los Angeles.
